Change of Melodic Interval in Where the Wild Things Are Ex 2

This riff is followed by a variation that serves as a transition.  In the transition, the melodic movement is changed to G descending to E, a descent of a minor third.  Note that both the G and the E are played as power chords and the dyads are played mainly in the same register as the low E string.
